It is still no fun for all those people who have released print jobs subsequently to the printers being locked up, they lose all their jobs. But with all newly imaged computers we have to manually change the settings and when specific Windows Updates comes along it still reset. However, it still occurs for us but not as often anymore, as we've tried to train both staff and students to check first.

Is there an updated driver for SHARP devices where printing from Windows 10's native apps works? Our drivers may not be up to date, but if a newer driver doesn't fix it I'm not rushing to update it. Does anyone know if Microsoft is aware of the issue and are looking into it? Not sure how easy it is to apply a fix for the TEMP directory for all users. It seems like it's an all or nothing approach, so we have abandoned it again. This works well for us, but not for all the users who gets all their defaults reset every time they restart the computer. Then we tried importing default file associations from an XML file with group policy. Setting the default for PDF only worked really well until the Windows 10 anniversary update. We have tried changing the default PDF handler in Windows, with variable results. At the moment it means resetting the photocopiers several times a week when someone's printed from Edge our Photos, despite us putting signs up at every photocopier and sent several emails about it. This is worse however, as anyone who has jobs in the queue after a job has crashed the SHARP photocopier will lose all their print jobs. At first we thought it was only related to PDF's as we used to have a similar issue with the native PDF reader in Windows 8. We've been battling this issue for the last few months too and it's getting very frustrating, looks like we have a very similar setup. Let me know if you can print from alternative programs and if the above solution helps.

Even if the user account you're logging in with is a member of the administrators group or any other group that has full control on the directory, make sure the user account is explicitly assigned in addition. “Find your USER "TEMP" directory (by default is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp, but if you moved it, then wherever you moved it to), and make sure the user account you're logged in with is explicitly assigned to the NTFS security on the TEMP folder with Full Control permissions. The short version of clh42’s answer is that the issue is related to the temp directory. Oddly enough the MS boards didn’t have any resolution. I found this issue which sounds similar to your problem on an HP board. I was doing some research and found a lot of similar posts.Īre you able to confirm this issue happens if you open the PDF in Adobe Reader too? If you have an alternative image viewer try that instead of your default image viewer. Thanks for the quick response Kel-Morian! Is there another spot I should be looking that might help? I followed this Microsoft tech page when delegating permissions: I've gone through with a test domain user account and added max rights on the printer and on the print server with no such luck. So my next step is to figure out and add whatever print permissions that the Administrator account has to our users so they can print. If the printer is installed as a local printer, it prints without issue. If a domain admin prints, such as Administrator then the job goes through. If a normal domain user prints, the printer crashes In my testing I have found the following: This can happen a few times a day which is very annoying to say the least. IT needs to go into print queue and clear it. When users print from these apps to the Sharp copier it causes the job to hang and crashes the print spooler which prevents anyone else from printing. We have recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now our users are having issues printing PDF's from Edge and photos with the Windows 10 photo app to our Sharp MX-5111N. So I have been dealing with this issue for the past month and I feel I am close to an answer.
